Abstract
The sodium salt of aminopterin, a structural analog of folic acid, when added to the regular CSMA fly breeding medium at concentrations of 0.10, 0.05, 0.025, and 0.0125%, prolonged the larval stage of Musca domestica. The 1st 2 concs. prevented adult emergence altogether, and the 3rd caused considerable diminution in emergence. Folic acid in concns. of 0.0025, 0.025, and 0.1% reversed the action of the sodium salt of aminopterin when added to cultures containing 0.025% of this salt. Added by itself at concns. up to 0.1%, folic acid appeared to cause no change in development of the house fly. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
