Abstract
Three new species and two new genera of Indian Thripidae are described. Two species Anaphothrips obscurus (Müller) and Mycterothrips acaciae Priesner are recorded from India for the first time. The structure of the male genitalia in Terebrantia is shown to be a useful morphological landmark for separating genera. Because of the difficulty of placing several genera into subtribes, particularly one of the new genera, it is proposed that for the present the subdivision of tribes may not be a feasible proposition.
