Abstract
The determination of significant changes (if any) in the quantities of refuse from Wards 17 and 25, City of Chicago, as a result of initiation in 1966 of twice-a-week pickup service in approximately one-third of the living units serviced is studied A method for making comparisons based on information from similar neighborhoods and identical time periods was developed and used in the analysis. For Ward 25, the average quantity of refuse collected for twice-a-week pickup service was approximately one-third greater than that for once-a-week service. For Ward 17, the gain in the quantity of refuse per living unit per week was equal to approximately 60%.Keywords
