Abstract
Kaposi's Idiopathic Hemorrhagic Sarcoma. Presented by George W. Binkley, MD. History.— A 48-year-old female patient was first presented to the Cleveland Dermatological Society at Mt. Sinai Hospital on Jan 28, 1960. The onset of the illness was April 1957. There were three painless, purplish-brown, dime-sized cutaneous tumors on the right thigh and each lower leg. Two of these were removed for histological examination. By September 1958, other growths made their appearance. Small doses of superficial x-irradiation flattened and removed treated tumors. The irradiation when administered has always helped, but in the past seven years there has been more growth of this multicentric disease. Family History: Her mother was born in Austria, her father, of Jewish extraction, was born in Russia. Physical Examination.— Cutaneous examination shows the various sized reddish-purple and brown nodules on the skin in a generalized distribution. Several blue-gray growths are on the hard palate.
