Abstract
Newborn ferrets inoculated by different routes with rubella virus showed widespread and chronic infection for up to 3 months. CF [complement fixing] and neutralizing antibodies in infected animals persisted for a year post-infection. Puppies inoculated by the IC [intracranial] route had higher virus titer, longer chronic infection, higher rubella antibody titers, and some showed eye defects. The similarities between ferret puppy infection and human congenital rubella were discussed. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
