Aspects of the Future of Ecology

Abstract
The future of ecology is intimately associated with practical problems. There exist ecological problems of considerable practical significance which necessarily have political, social, engineering, and scientific ramifications. They are not amenable to satisfactory solution by any one field of expertise. It seems of utmost practical value that free communication begin immediately between the experts dealing with these different aspects of ecological problems. The universities may be the ideal starting place for this communication.
