Abstract
Molecular materials forming electronic components one nanometre in size and single molecules acting as elements in devices have attractive prospects for optoelectronics, information processing and pattern recognition. This promise has led to an SERC Initiative in Molecular Electronics, with an annual budget of at least £1m.
