Abstract
Nonlinear ponderomotive force effects on mode-converted lower-hybrid waves are considered. The nonlinear distortion of these waves is shown to be governed by the cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation. The threshold condition for self-focusing and filamentation is derived. Keywords
