Abstract
The fourier transform formulation is used for the spectral image formation of a point source in a concave grating mounting (in-plane). In applying this formulation to an extended source, consideration is given to the condition of slit illumination. This formulation is applied to the Monk-Gillieson mounting, and the resolving power is discussed. Keywords
