Measurement of the branching fractions $τ^{-}$ → $ρ^{-}$ $ν_{τ}$ and $τ^{-}$ → $K^{-}$ $ν_{τ}$

Abstract

We have measured the branching fraction of

τ^{-}

→

ρ^{-}

ν_{τ}

to be (22.3±0.6±1.4)% and the branching fraction of

τ^{-}

→

K^{* -}

ν_{τ}

to be (1.3±0.3±0.3)%. These values are consistent with the expectations for conventional decays of the τ.
