Simple Closed-Open-Closed Spectrograph Shutter for Exposure Times in the 10 μsec Range

Abstract
A frictionless closed-open-closed spectrograph shutter initially held in place by magnets and driven by an exploding wire is described. Measurements show that the peak transmission of the shutter is 100% and that the timing is reproducible to better than 1 μsec.Keywords
