Abstract
From calculation of the efficiency of photosynthesis it is possible to estimate the theoretical maximum yields of cereal crops. These can then be compared with actual yields obtained under the most favourable conditions and with average yields recorded in various countries. It is possible also to estimate the average yield response to nitrogen fertilizer and thence to assess the potential return from its application, having regard also to environmental considerations. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
