Abstract
The geomagnetic pole positions for the Permian are calculated on the basis of measurements of the direction of magnetization of the Nideck porphyry from the Vosges region and red sandstones from other regions in France. The results agree with the pole calculated for the Exeter basalt of England, but differ by 40 degrees from those calculated from American measurements. Continental drift might be an explanation.
