Abstract
An effective microscopic model for the dynamics of spreading is considered within the class of solid-on-solid models. The dynamics is of Kawasaki type, which implies local conservation of matter. Experimental results are presented and compared with microscopic simulations. The general agreement between the observations and this microscopic model is very satisfactory. Keywords
