Abstract
Selective catheterization of the canine bronchial artery following chronic ligation of one pulmonary artery, together with the use of a contrast mixture of low toxicity and good radiopacity and the technique of direct roentgenographic magnification, allowed detailed visualization of the bronchial arterial circulation and made possible repeated studies in the same animal. The techniques described, using both serial exposures and cineangiography, were employed for physiologic studies. Following unilateral pulmonary arterial ligation the duration of bronchial arterial opacification and, in some instances, the caliber of the bronchial arteries could be profoundly influenced by changes in endotracheal pressure or by drugs. These effects seemed to be related to alterations in the systemic-pulmonary arterial pressure gradients in most, but not all, instances. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
