Multiple Primary Malignancies

Abstract
In the case here described, the patient had primary malignant lesions in 4 distinct organ-systems: adenocarcinoma of the duodenum, adenocarcinoma of the breast, adenocarcinoma of the endometrium, and multiple basal-cell carcinomata of the skin. The diagnoses were verified histologically. Previous reports of such cases are reviewed, and criteria which they must satisfy are formulated. Although they are rare, the possibility of multifocal primary neoplasms must be considered in every patient who has undergone surgery for malignant degeneration and who returns with complaints suggesting recurrence or metastatic spread.
