Abstract
A case of death associated with hyperglycemia produced by hemodialysis with hypertonic glucose is presented. Pertinent literature is cited showing that hyperosmolality of extracellular fluid regardless of cause produces similar symptoms. Dehydration during dialysis should be accomplished by ultrafiltration, and glucose concentration in dialysis baths should not exceed 1500 mg%.Keywords
