Abstract
Since twenty years, the aim of our research is the understanding of the formation of quaternary cryoclastic deposits. They are accumulations of frost shattering debris. Laboratory experimentation (freezing tests on wide range of lithology) has allowed the definition of an empirical model that we try to adapt to field data For this purpose, the Centre de Géomorphologie has equiped stations to study the active frost shattering on several rock cliffs. Such an adapted model is to be used for the analysis of the sedimentation rate of fossil cryoclastic deposits. Indeed, the morphology of frost shattering debris retains marks of the different physical and chemical weathering processes responsible for their formation. Key-words : Frost shattering, laboratory expérimentation, quaternary cryoclastic deposits, empiric model. Keywords
