Thioridazine Incontinence

Abstract
To the Editor.— I read with interest Renshaw's LETTER (218:738, 1971) regarding urinary incontinence associated with the use of thioridazine (Mellaril). I would like to confirm this side effect by reporting a similar case. The patient was a 49-year-old man given very high doses of prednisone for control of pemphigus vulgaris. He was subsequently placed on a regimen of thioridazine to control increasingly manic behavior. Enuresis began to occur as well as incontinence when he napped during the day. Discontinuance of the thioridazine and substitution of diazepam resulted in stoppage of the incontinence over the period of a few days.
