On the True Density of Tsetse Flies

Abstract
Methods of estimating density in areas not isolated from the fly-belt and in isolated areas of moderate extent are outlined. Both depend on releasing a known number of marked flies, computing the number still living on some subsequent date and finding the ratio of marked to unmarked individuals. The results of 1 exp. by the 2nd method gave 1200-1600 flies per sq. mile.
