Light modulation at molecular frequencies

Abstract
We describe the generation of amplitude- and frequency-modulated light with a modulation frequency equal to the fundamental vibrational frequency of molecular deuterium This is a first step toward the synthesis of subfemtosecond pulses with prescribed temporal shape.
