Subcutaneous phycomycosis from Pondicherry, South India

Abstract
Four cases of subcutaneous phycomycosis diagnosed by isolating Basidiobolus meristosorus from affected tissue, are reported along with the growth characters and morphological features of this fungus. This is the first report from Pondicherry, South India where it was possible to isolate the causative fungus from each case. Il s'agit de la description de quatre cas de Phycomycose sous-cutanée diagnostiqués par l'isolement en culture de Basidiobolus meristosporus à partir du tissu infecté ainsi que des caractères particuliers de la croissance et de la morphologie du champignon.
