Betatron-synchrotron detrapping in a tapered wiggler free-electron laser

Abstract
Betatron‐synchrotron resonance detrapping is shown to take place when the wiggler magnetic field amplitude is tapered. This resonance exists even if the radiation wave fronts are not curved and is dependent on the transverse gradient of the tapered wiggler field.Keywords
