Abstract
The inhibiting effect of insulin on the mobilization of free fatty acids (FFA) from adipose tissue is halted in prevalent conditions with systemic insulin resistance. The nature and cause of this perturbation are unknown, but steroid hormones may be involved. The consequence is the creation or amplification of insulin resistance in muscle and liver. Keywords
