Spectral Sensitization at Low Surface Density of Sensitizer

Abstract
The efficiency as sensitizer of pinacyanol adsorbed at low surface density on cadmium sulphide is evaluated theoretically for two cases: that of a single molecule adsorbed at a negatively charged defect, and of a five-member linear- ordered aggregate anchored at a negatively charged defect. Ionization energies are calculated by a method based on a set of corrections to the measured ionization energy at high density, and the statistical model is used to estimate efficiency. Both cases show substantial enhancement of effectiveness.
