THE MOUSE-ADAPTED LANSING STRAIN OF POLIOMYELITIS VIRUS

Abstract
A filterable agent presumed to be a strain of mouse encephalomyelitis virus was isolated from the intestines of normal mice. Clinical and immimologieal comparisons of this virus with the mouse-adapted Lansing strain of poliomyelitis virus were made. The clinical picture produced in mice by intracerebral inoculation of the intestinal virus is in most instances distinctly different from that produced by the Lansing virus. No evidence of im-munological relationship between the 2 viruses could be demonstrated.
