Abstract
A test to evaluate the control of Siphona irritans, on a herd of dairy cattle revealed that on the 5% level of probability significantly fewer flies were found on the animals sprayed with methoxychlor, methoxychlor plus butoxy polypropylene glycol, and methoxychlor plus Tabutrex (di-n-brityl suacinate) than on the untreated check animals on the 5th day following treatment. The cows which were sprayed with methoxychlor plus butoxy polypropylene glycol had somewhat fewer flies than the other sprayed animals but the difference between treatment groups was not significant. An analysis of daily milk production records kept during the test period of 4 weeks failed to show that horn fly control, as obtained under the conditions of this experiment, influence milk flow. Keywords
