Abstract
The sex pheromones of the moths Adoxophyes orana, Clepsis spectrana and Archips poda‐na were found to be mixtures of positional or geometrical isomers. The predominant compound of the pheromone of A. orana is cis‐9‐tetradecenyl acetate (tda); the minor compound cis‐11‐tda, whereas for C. spectrana the predominant compound is cis‐11‐tda and the minor one cis‐9‐tda. In A. podana cis‐11‐tda and trans‐11‐tda were found in about equal amounts. The separate compounds are inactive, and mixtures of them are active only when the components are present in a definite, critical ratio. The geometrical isomers of the constituents of the pheromone of A. orana were found to be potent inhibitors. Keywords
