Abstract
The effect of a number of chelating agents on retention of plutonium or americium was studied in rats. Diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) was the most effective agent for the removal of both plutonium and americium. The effects of different patterns of treatment were investigated. For both elements the greatest reduction in retention occurs when treatment is commenced very shortly after exposure. Keywords
