Abstract
A population of potato cyst nematode recently discovered at Pukekohe, New Zealand, is identified as Heterodera pallida Stone, 1972. Diagnostic characters of the larvae—total length, width of the lip region, length of the stylet, length and width of the stylet knobs, and distance of the genital primordium from the anterior end—exclude the population from H. rostochiensis. Tested against differentially resistant clones of Solanum spp., the population appeared to be identical to biological race Dutch D.Keywords
