Abstract
Records obtained by simultaneous registration of the mechanical movements, and electrical potential changes, of the small intestine of anesthetized rabbits are presented and discussed. During rhythmic contraction of the intestine a characteristic wave form of potential variation is obtained, the phases of which bear a definite relation to those of the mechanical movement. The wave of potential variation has a symmetric form; the first portion corresponds to contraction, the second to relaxation of the muscle. Details of the form of the potential variation are discussed, and it is pointed out that these are at variance with what is usually reported for the action current of muscle. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
