Abstract
The dielectric constant and loss of glassy B2O3 have been measured from 500 to 800 °Cover the frequency range 1 to 50 kHz. The material behaves essentially like a nonpolar polymer; no relaxation phenomena could be identified. Over the entire frequency and temperature range ϵ' lies between 3.1 and 3.2. Losses increase with increasing temperature and decreasing frequency and appear to be due to ionic impurities. The activation energy for conductance is 77.8 kJ (18.6 kcal), independent of frequency.
