Abstract
The outer secretion of Lumbricus terrestris was extracted with water and dilute HCl and was fractionated. A water-soluble, dialyz-able fraction contained a potent hemolytic agent (N= 8.8%). An ether soluble compound (probably hydroaro-matic), and a biologically inactive protein also were isolated. The ratio of these components remains the same even though the total secretion may vary (during the period of reproduction).
