Abstract
The use of metaphor provides the focus for this article. First, Haley's work with metaphoric language in therapy is discussed and exemplified. Secondly, the parables of Jesus are explored to highlight this mode of communication. Finally, several patterns found in both Haley's therapy and Jesus’ parables are presented to illustrate possible ways metaphor can inform the Christian therapist's work.
