Abstract
Humidity influences the breakdown characteristics of air gaps by its effect on the predischarge phenomena. For an understanding sufficient to answer engineering problems details of physical events must be known, which can be explained by the use of advanced measuring techniques. The results found in this way are applicable also to air gaps with great distances. Keywords
