Abstract
The author deals with several aspects of Kautz' (1987, 1988) minimum principle for the noise-induced escape from attractors: He presents a slightly simpler derivation, points out a connection with Lyapunov exponents and invariant manifolds, and generalises to chaotic maps. Keywords
