Abstract
The spin-1/2 and spin-1 Heisenberg antiferromagnets on a square lattice are studied via series expansions around the Ising limit. Series are calculated for the ground-state energy, staggered magnetization, transverse susceptibility, staggered parallel susceptibility, and mass gap. Extrapolating these series to the isotropic limit, we find extremely good agreement with the predictions of spin-wave theory. Keywords
