Abstract
The reaction of phosphonium ylides with elemental sulfur gave thioaldehydes which were successfully changed to corresponding thioamides when treated with secondary amines. On the other hand, the reaction of selenoaldehydes with secondary amines afforded bis(dialkylamino)methanes in good yields. Keywords
