Abstract
AN EFFECTIVE drug for the treatment of Meniere's disease and other vestibular problems would be an important addition to the present day therapeutic armamentarium of the physician. A report of the drug Innovar (droperidol and fentanyl citrate) being used with good results in patients with Meniere's disease recently appeared in the literature.1Because of the unpredictable remissions and exacerbations, it is difficult to evaluate whether or not a drug has genuinely altered the natural course of Meniere's disease. The following study was performed in order to determine the effect of Innovar on nystagmus induced by ethanol in normal human volunteers. Methods Subjects.—Ten well-motivated volunteer subjects, five women and five men, age 20 to 30 years, were selected after careful screening.
