Abstract
Raman spectra of iron or cobalt doped MgO single crystals have been obtained. A strong band which lies between 250 and 330 cm−1 for the cobalt doped crystal and between 100 and 350 cm−1 for the iron doped sample appears in the spectrum and has been assigned to resonance modes. Using experimental frequencies, the central and shear force constant changes βr. and γr have been calculated. Keywords
