Abstract

Emendations to the "Nearctic Catalog of Tabanidae" (Philip, 1947) include additional data on type locations of certain spp., and additions to state distr. records. Tabanus cribellum and T. floridensis are returned to Stenotabanus in the tribe Diachlorini, Chrysops ultima Whit. is placed as a subsp. of C. obsoleta Wied., and C. surda O. S. is revived as a full sp. New synonymy includes: Stonemyia. isabellina (Wied.) (=S. pigra (O.S.)): Chrysops obsoleta Wied. (=C. lugens Wied.); "Tabanus" carolinensis Macq. (=Hamatabanus scitus (Wlk.)); T. nigripes Wied. (=T. coffeatus Macq.); Hybomitra lasiophthalmus Macq. (=T. fretus Stone); H. patulus (Wlk.) (=H. oklahomensis (Stone)): Tabanus lacustris Stone is reduced to a subsp. of T. melanocerus Wied.
