Abstract
The paper describes analytical and experimental results for a new method of current harmonic reduction in thyristor converters. The principle of the method is to modify the current waveforms on the d.c. windings of the converter transformer by injecting harmonic currents at a particular frequency. In practice, third harmonic currents of the power frequency is most efficient. Experimental results carried out prove that the method is effective in reducing the alternating-current harmonics, and that it is applicable to any type of thyristor converters. Keywords
