Many-Body Effects and the Depolarization of Light by Simple Gases

Abstract
We present a statistical mechanical description of the depolarized light scattering by simple gases which contains as a special case the well-known binary collision result. For pressures greater than 50 atm, three-and four-particle correlations are shown to make important negative contributions to the experimental measurements.Keywords
