Abstract
A description is given of the Chantransia-stage of this alga from wild and cultured material, with details of its development and of the formation of the young adult thallus. Observations have been made on the rate of overall growth and on regeneration of the thallus from fragments. The significance of the Chantransia and adult stages in the life-cycle is discussed.
