Abstract
Methods are described for the in situ characterisation of 32 steroid oestrogens on thin-layer chromatograms. The methods are suitable for the detection of a) phenols, b) benzene rings, c) o-dihydroxyphenols, d) unsaturated bonds, e) ketones, f) α,β-diketones and g) individual oestrogens. The sensitivity of the different methods varies with various oestrogens and is between 0.2 and 15.0 μg.
