Abstract
The photolytic darkening and bleaching of vacuum-annealed AgCl was investigated at - 100°C, -28°C, and room temperature. It was found that the shape of the absorption band induced by 416-mμ radiation is a function of the crystal temperature. The 580-mμ light, while initially bleaching the crystal selectively, was found to be able to completely destroy the induced color in the crystals. No short-time photolytic effects were observed at - 100°C.Keywords
