Roentgen Investigations of the Neo-Natal Gaseous Content of the Intestinal Tract

Abstract
The occurrence of gas in the intestinal tract based on roentgen examinations in 20 new-born children and 15 post-mortem cases is discussed. Swallowed air may be demonstrated immediately after delivery. The progress of the gas which takes place at a fairly constant speed is described; from it the duration of life may be roughly estimated. The importance of roentgen examinations in postmortem and forensic cases is emphasized.
