Abstract
Eighteen patients with active extensive silicotuberculosis, 16 of whom had cavities, received chemotherapy for various periods of time; most of them had between 3 and 12 months of treatment. Three regimens were employed, all of which contained isoniazid. The results of therapy in this group of patients were excellent; 16 showed reversal of infectiousness and 11 demonstrated roentgenographic improvement. Cavity closure, however, occurred in none of the 16 patients with cavities. This paper reflects the excellent results reported in the recent literature on the chemotherapy of silicotuberculosis.
