Abstract
Fresh cryostat sections of guinea-pig pancreas immersed in cold heptane and examined by dark field microscopy show a distinct pattern which allows identification and isolation of different islet components. Groups of cell with silvery white retractile bodies in their cytoplasm can be dissected accurately enough to provide a practically pure population of endocrine cells. Cytological studies show that the cells represent the A2 type. Aggregates composed of B cells and A1 cells can also be isolated. The technical procedure is described fn detail. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
