Abstract
IRIS, a computer-interactive APL program for developing a simple order for a set of stimuli, is described. IRIS executes interactively by presenting pairs to be judged at a remote terminal. The subject responds by indicating his preference, or, by indicating that he has no preference. From a subject's judgments, IRIS determines which judgments are implied via transitivity and presents only pairs for which no implications are known. A substantial reduction in number of paired-comparisons required to recover a simple order results.Keywords
